RIVER DART
The Dart rises on High Dartmoor beginning with two rivers - East Dart and West Dart. These join at Dartmeet and by the time it reaches Spitchwick it is large and, in places, fast flowing. Here it is quite deep and has a fairly fast current as it rounds a sharp corner over a rocky bed. (notes from my own observation and knowledge)...............
BALSAM
A non-native invasive plant. The largest annual plant in Britain, growing up to 2.5m high from seed in a single season. Himalayan balsam spreads quickly as it can project its seeds up to four metres. It has large 'policeman's helmet' pink-purple flowers. Leaves have small red teeth at the edge and are in whorls of 3 or opposite. The stem is reddish. It is commonly found along riverbanks and streams, around ponds and lakes, in wet woodlands and in ditches and damp meadows.....Introduced in 1839, it was first cultivated as a greenhouse annual by gardeners, but it is now considered to be an invasive wild flower.

Gorgeous and a great capture. And thank you for the notes - I had never heard of Himalayan balsam before, but it is very pretty.

Thanks Martha....H. Balsam has become something of a menace here but, as you say, it is so pretty and looks lovely in wild situations like beside this river. Thanks for your lovely comments
